Polly believes that the social contract between younger and older generations has been broken, with gen Z and millennials set to be worse off than their parents in the face of soaring unemployment, stagnating wages and ballooning house prices.

New research carried out for the BBC suggests that young people in their 20s are facing a worse start to adulthood than any other generation in almost half a century, with more than 40% of 25-year-olds now living with their parents.

But, Polly says, even in the face of this intergenerational injustice, all hope isn’t lost.
